Some Historic temple in Malang

Jago temple comes from the word "Jajaghu", founded during the Singhasari Empire in the 13th century. Overlapping located in District, Malang regency, or about 22 km from the city of Malang. At this temple Adityawarman then put Manjushri statue as it is called in the inscription Manjushri. This statue is now kept in the National Museum.

This temple is quite unique, as the only remaining top part and according to local stories due to lightning. Kunjarakarna reliefs and Pancatantra can be found in this temple. A whole bunch of this temple is composed of andesite stone.

Candi Jago left on foot and partly just a small body temple. Body temple supported by three terraces. Overhanging the front porch and the body temple is located on the third terrace. Turtles become wolf food. Meaning about giving advice, do not be backward in a business or a job simply because of the insults.

In the northeast corner there is a series of stories narrated Yaksa Kunjarakarna Buddha. He went to the supreme god, namely the Wairocana to study Buddhism.

Some decorations and reliefs at the foot of the temple in the form of stories Kunjarakarna. This story is deductive in Buddhist belief, among others, is told about a giant Kunjarakarna want incarnate. He faces Wairocana and convey meaning. Having given advice and abide by the teachings of Buddha, a giant wish finally come true.

On the third terrace there is a story that narrates Arjunawiwaha marriage with Goddess Suprabha Arjuna as a gift from Lord Guru after defeating giant Niwatakawaca Arjuna.

Candi Jago decoration on the body is not as much on his feet. Body is shown in a scene Kalayawana relief, that has to do with the story Kresnayana. Relief is about the war between the king Kalayawana with Krishna. While on the roof of the temple which is presumed once the roof is made of wood / fibers, now have disappeared.
